Posts from March 2020

The Bear Grylls Adventure wanted to let you know about their upcoming event!
On Wednesday 17th June, they will be having their very first ‘Accessibility Day’.

Inclusive activities include; Fear Zone, Archery, Shooting, Climbing, Escape Room, High Ropes, Snorkel, IFLY and Diving.
What the Accesibility Day will be providing?

They are providing a day solely for guests with any ability, it will be a slow paced day, giving guests the chance to come in and feel relaxed to do their activity without feeling rushed by other guests.

Music will be off and all lights will be on, as we understand this can be very distressing to some guests.

Activity timeslots will allow guests the extra time that may be needed for their ability so this event date is not advertised on our website.

'Bear Grylls Adventure' have full accessibility; accessible toilets, lifts, and hoists (Please note: Guests would need to provide their own sling for Dive & Snorkel and changing facilities.)

With the current circumstances we are all facing at present, it is with deep regret to inform you that we feel that it is in the best interest for everyone concerned, that we find it necessary to close our day centre and services as from Friday 20th March 2020 until further notice.

Our client group are all classed in the high risk category and we feel that there is no other alternative resolution that could be made.

We trust that you will all understand that this is an option that has not been taken lightly and that you will be sympathetic towards this arrangement.

Furthermore all student placements for now will be cancelled and future placements suspended and all CPM events are currently cancelled until further notice. This includes:
Trustees meetings
All Pathfinders Social Clubs
"Wheel'n'Walk" sponsored walk at Cannon Hill Park on Saturday 21st March is cancelled.
Premier League Pedal with Mondelez International Community Champions cycling has been postponed.
Sponsored Splash Swim event
Riding for the Disabled (RDA) have informed ourselves future riding activity is suspended until further notice.

We wish you all well, keep safe and we sincerely hope that we will soon be able to open our doors again in the not too distant future.

We will keep our website and Facebook Page up to date for any further changes or as to when our services will re-open.

Please contact Development Officer Sarah Lilly via email sarah@cpmids.org.uk for any queries, I will be picking up emails during our centre closure.

Please pass on and forward this message to any relevant sources.

A personal message from our local Mondelez International (Cadbury's Bournville) Community Champion Michael Huggins re his up and coming cycling charity for four charities including Cerebral Palsy Midlands.
Apart from my love for Aston Villa my other sporting passion is cycling. Now some of you may remember that I was the guy who cycled to Wembley for the past two play-off finals for charity, I did not last week as I have a new challenge ahead which I am pleased to announce today.

At the end of April I will be cycling to every Premier League Football Ground for Charity.

I will not be on my own so I will be putting football rivalries aside and joining me on this challenge will be Birmingham City fan Steve Davies and West Bromwich Albion supporter Sophia Hussain who is the Team Director & organiser.

The charities we are fundraising for are:
Acorns Children’s Hospice
Sandwell Advocacy
Cerebral Palsy Midlands
Primrose Hospice.
