We had four in our group with cerebral palsy. As well as having cerebral palsy, we had one citizen with sight loss, one with autism and one other citizen with mild learning difficulties. One of our team was also a wheelchair user. Despite their disabilities, all our team found that they had incredible abilities! They could play basketball, football, climb and aim for a target. We all had a brilliant day and got really stuck in to all the games that were available.
We experienced Wheelchair Football with the ‘Villa Rockets FC’, Wheelchair Basketball, Gymnastics, archery, the climbing wall, Cycling with ‘Park Ride’, Rugby, Table Tennis and more.
Our CPM sports team left with having achieved a medal each with a new hat and felt really proud. It really was exhilarating, we were so pleased with how disabled friendly the games were and how friendly, helpful and supportive everyone was on the day. Here are some comments;
James; “I liked riding the bikes and I liked having a go on the climbing wall. I told my mom all about it when I got home and showed her my medal.”
Karl; “I liked it, I had a fantastic day, I enjoyed going out for the day and going on the bikes.”
Amy; “I had a really good day out; I like the archery and Rugby and would definitely go again.”
Care Assistant. “It was really good and really well thought out, all the people at the activities were so helpful and would adapt the sport in any way to ensure everyone could take part. We must go again.”
