Newman University Psychology and Counselling student Alex Newton started his work placement with CPM in September last year. During his time here he has successfully set up our artwork online on our website, interviewing citizens about their work, taking photographs of their art and working together with our website team to set out the pages, helping empower our disabled adults and get their out there, into the public eye. So people can see just how talented our artists are. Finishing his work experience Alex has some lovely heart felt words about his time here at our centre.
Cerebral Palsy Midlands (CPM) is a day centre for adults with a range of disabilities. I have been going to the centre on a work placement scheme every Tuesday since September 2016. I have been engaging with the service users and members of staff from the centre completing tasks that have been set out for me.

My work experience has been assisting Development Officer Sarah Lilly in the Marketing Office and has been really good for me as I’m learning new skills on the computer and have been building my confidence when meeting new people learning to communicate at the appropriate level.
Cerebral Palsy Midlands and Wilson Stuart School work closely together on creating opportunities for development for young adults with disabilities. We have regular students attend our centre on their college work placements. Creating partnerships with schools such as Wilson Stuart means that we can work together and mutually fund and support projects that will be a huge benefit to the adults we work with.
