CP Friends: A Safe and Welcoming Community for Adults with Disabilities

Navigating adulthood with cerebral palsy or other disabilities can often feel isolating. Richie, a 21-year-old wheelchair user with cerebral palsy, understands this challenge firsthand. To create a supportive and inclusive space, he founded CP Friends, a social group where adults with disabilities can meet, chat, and form friendships in a warm, accessible setting.

Why CP Friends?

Richie said:
“As an adult, it can be isolating living with a condition that is so tiring it’s hard to keep up with peers of a similar age. When I was a child, there were so many activities on offer—soft play, sensory groups, etc. But now I’m an adult, I’d like to meet and chat with other adults similar to myself.”

When & Where?

Richie hopes that CP Friends will be a warm and inviting space where people can connect, make friends, and feel less isolated. His initiative has already brought together members of Cerebral Palsy Midlands (CPM), who first met Richie and his family at the Summer Sizzler Community Fete. Many CPM folks have joined CP Friends meet-ups and have had a great time making new friends. Everyone is welcome, and it’s all about building a supportive community together!
CP Friends meet every other Friday from 12 PM – 2 PM at The Hub, Ashmore Park, Griffiths Drive, Wolverhampton, WV11 2LH. Enjoy free tea, cake, and friendship in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Upcoming Meet-Up Dates:
February: 7th & 21st
March: 14th & 28th
April: 11th & 25th
May: 9th & 30th
