Cerebral Palsy Midlands Hosts 2025 AGM and Celebrates Outstanding Achievements Monday 8th December 4.30pm. Held at Cerebral Palsy Midlands

Cerebral Palsy Midlands (CPM) proudly held its 2025 Annual General Meeting this week, bringing together citizens, families, staff, trustees, and volunteers to reflect on the past year and celebrate our CPM community.
As always, the heart of the event was recognising individuals who have shown resilience, growth, and exceptional contribution. Our Chairman James Grenfell was pleased to acknowledge and present these achievements.

Brian and Lily Filkin Award for Endeavour 2025

This year, the Endeavour Award honours an individual who has shown exceptional courage through an incredibly difficult period of personal loss. Despite facing profound adversity, he has demonstrated unwavering strength, dignity, and determination to keep moving forward and continue being the remarkable person he is.
The 2025 Brian and Lily Filkin Award for Endeavour was presented to JP Lutwyche.

JP’s journey over the past year has inspired everyone at CPM, and this award stands as a heartfelt tribute to his resilience and spirit.

Evelyn Hurd Award for Communication 2025

CPM proudly presented two Communication Awards, recognising two outstanding individuals who have each flourished in their own unique way.
Mitchell has settled beautifully into the centre, becoming a valued and much-loved member of the group.
He is always willing to help others, engages warmly with peers, and brings plenty of enthusiasm to everyday life at CPM.
He loves being out and about around the centre and is especially keen on watching the horse-riding sessions, even if he sometimes gets a little excited and loud!
The first Evelyn Hurd Award for Communication was presented to Mitchell Freitas.
Grace joined CPM as a very quiet individual, but within her first year she has blossomed with confidence.
She has become a fantastic ambassador for the centre, engaging more, expressing herself proudly, and showing real growth in her communication and presence.
The second Evelyn Hurd Award for Communication was presented to Grace Kempson.

Volunteer Recognition

Centre Manager Gary Watson took a moment to acknowledge the incredible dedication of CPM’s volunteers:
“We do a lot of good work here, and we’ve got a lot of volunteers. A lot of our work would not be possible without the committed people who give their time freely. You enable us to take people on holiday, support extra outings, and deliver a richer service. We really do appreciate you.”
Special thanks were given to:
Katrina Oldham
Vic Stait
Amanda Steward

Their contribution continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of CPM citizens.

A Final Note of Thanks

As the meeting drew to a close, Gary expressed his gratitude to the entire team:

“Thank you to all the staff, volunteers, and everyone who works so hard to deliver our service. Rain or shine, you’re always here, always going the extra mile. We truly appreciate everything you do.”

Looking Ahead

CPM moves into the new year with renewed purpose, celebrating the achievements of its community and continuing its mission to provide a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for adults with cerebral palsy and disabilities.
