Happy birthday to you Margaret from all your friends at CPM. Margaret Green is 87 years old today and has been connected to our service for a long time. I wanted to share a bit about her and her story.
Margaret said, "It was in 1949 when I first started, and I was helping at the Youth Club. We used to have a percussion band and do a lot of things like embroidery. I enjoyed the time when I was with them."
Margaret is pictured on the far left.
In 1949, Margaret would have been 12 years old and attending Carlson House School 'Youth Club', which was next door to our building at CPM. "Then I moved to the Pathfinders first, and I enjoyed that as well. I also enjoyed the Youth Club."

Margaret has witnessed all the changes to our service as it evolved from having MSA situated in a hut next door to being in the building we are in now.
Below is an image of the stables next door on Carlson House School land that were converted into the MSA Hut where Margaret first attended! This is the MSA, now CPM's fiurst building serving older children and adults with cerebral palsy in our community.
"Well, there was a lot of friendship when we first opened. It was only a small hut at first, and in 1954, David Whitefield opened this. Then it grew and grew. But I enjoyed every minute of it."
When MSA became a day service provider for adults with cerebral palsy, Margaret remembers, "We used to do games, Charades, and different things each time. I used to do basket weaving, knitting, making dishcloths, trays, and woodwork."

Margaret continues to be a part of Cerebral Palsy Midlands and receives support from friends and staff. She still enjoys embroidery, but her most impressive talent is her voice, singing, and acapella performances.
