CPM would like to say a huge thank you to Atahlia Robinson and the team at 'Specsavers' Chelmsley Wood for organising a fantastic fundraising day in support of our charity and raising an incredible £407.87!!

The fundraiser took place on Saturday 1st August, (9:00 am until 5:30 pm), outside the 'Specsavers' store in Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham, helping to raise both funds and awareness for Cerebral Palsy Midlands.

For Atahlia, choosing to support CPM was particularly personal. Her brother has cerebral palsy, giving her first-hand experience of how the condition can affect everyday life, not only for the person themselves, but for their family too.

It was this personal connection that inspired Atahlia to organise the fundraiser at the place where she works and use the day as an opportunity to get people talking about cerebral palsy and the importance of lifelong support.
Atahlia said: “My brother inspired me to do this fundraiser. Having direct experience of living with someone with CP means this is something I’m really passionate about. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to support CPM.”
The team certainly made sure the fundraising stand couldn't be missed, with a fantastic colourful balloon display, plenty of raffle prizes and activities including face painting. Visitors were encouraged to stop, have some fun, learn more about CPM and support the fundraiser. There were even some very special visitors during the day, including a couple of familiar characters who helped attract plenty of attention to the CPM collection buckets!

Most importantly, Atahlia's brother, the person who inspired the fundraiser in the first place, was able to be part of the day too. The wonderful photographs from the event really capture the fun, warmth and personal meaning behind the fundraiser.

Why community fundraising matters

Cerebral palsy is a lifelong condition, and at Cerebral Palsy Midlands we believe that lifelong support should be too.

Based in Harborne, Birmingham, CPM supports adults with cerebral palsy and other disabilities, providing opportunities for social connection, independence, creativity, learning, activities and experiences within the community.
Community fundraising events like Atahlia's don't just help us raise vital funds. They also help us reach new people, challenge misconceptions around disability and raise awareness of the lives and experiences of people with CP.
A massive thank you to Atahlia, her family, her colleagues at Specsavers Chelmsley Wood and everyone who donated, bought raffle tickets, took part in the activities or stopped to find out more about our work.
We are incredibly grateful to have people within our community choosing to use their own experiences to support others.

Inspired by Atahlia?

If you would like to organise your own fundraiser for Cerebral Palsy Midlands, whether through your workplace, school, community group or simply with friends and family, we'd love to hear from you.
