Help Us Preserve 80 Years of History

What is Cerebral Palsy Midlands?

Cerebral Palsy Midlands (CPM) is a registered charity and adult day service based in Harborne, Birmingham, supporting adults with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. We offer a safe, inclusive environment where our citizens can develop skills, explore new opportunities, and connect with others.

Local History Volunteer & Student Opportunities at Cerebral Palsy Midlands

In just two years, Cerebral Palsy Midlands will proudly celebrate 80 years of service as a disability charity.

As we approach this incredible milestone, we are looking for local history enthiusiasts, student volunteers, work experience placements, and local community volunteers to help us develop and preserve our heritage and archive.

Our charity has a rich and fascinating history, with roots stretching back to the 19th century. From the land we acquired, to the evolution of services for people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities, our story reflects equalilty and wider societal change.

We are particularly interested in exploring:

How perceptions of disability have evolved over time
Changes in language and social attitudes
Educational reforms and policy developments
Political milestones impacting disabled people
The lived experiences of the people and families we have supported

You can read more about our history here:
