Cerebral Palsy Midlands Champions Support and Advocacy for Vulnerable Adults in the Heart of Birmingham
Cerebral Palsy Midlands is a Birmingham-based charity that uplifts and supports people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities from across the West Midlands region. Its primary objectives are to provide daycare, advocacy, and advice services to vulnerable adults over the age of 19. We take the safety and well-being of vulnerable adults, who we refer to as service users and/or citizens and ‘adults at risk’, very seriously. As a registered charity (no 529464) with the Charities Commission for England and Wales, we are committed to upholding good practice and ensuring that our services and charitable work consistently demonstrate our dedication to protecting those we encounter.
This Safeguarding Policy enables Cerebral Palsy Midlands to.
Enforce and promote good safeguarding practice through every aspect of its work, which will help to prevent abuse occurring.
To ensure that any allegations or disclosures of abuse are dealt with appropriately, and that the individual/s experiencing the abuse are supported fully.
To report allegations or disclosures of abuse to the relevant local authority body, Adults and Communities Access Point 0121 303 1234.
To take steps to ensure that abuse stops once it has been identified.
What should I do if I think I or someone else is being abused?
If you suspect that an adult with care and support needs is being abused or neglected, you can report it to Birmingham City Council's Adult Social Care service.
Here's how you can do it:
To make an online report, visit Birmingham City Council's portal for raising the alert. Staff will look at online referrals from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. If you need to discuss your concerns, you can call 0121 303 1234.
Please note that staff will not be able to respond to online referrals outside of the above times, on weekends or bank holidays. If you believe that the referral you are making is urgent and needs an immediate response, please contact the Out of Hours team on 0121 464 9001 or email AMHPoutofhours@birmingham.gov.uk.
If you believe that someone is in immediate danger, or if your concern is an emergency, you should contact the Emergency Services by calling 999.
